Contact: Anyware Mobile Solutions Announces the Addition of Howard Janzen to the Board of Directors
Janzen is currently president and CEO of Janzen Ventures Inc., a company focused on investment activities. Formerly, Janzen was president of Sprint Business Solutions, a $12 billion business unit. In this position his responsibilities included the transformation of Sprint’s wireless, wireline and local voice and data services. “Anyware has positioned itself in the right place at the right time with the right management team to catch the mobility wave,” said Janzen on his election to the Anyware Mobile Solutions board. Prior to joining Sprint in May of 2003, Janzen served as chairman, president and chief executive officer for Williams Communications, where he led the company in completing its $7 billion next-generation fiber network. Janzen joined Williams in 1979 and served in a number of leadership roles in Williams’ energy and natural gas pipeline business. In January 1995, he was named president of the communications business unit of The Williams Companies, Inc. In April 1997, he became president and chief executive officer of Williams Communications Group, which became an independent company in 2001. A recognized leader in the telecommunications industry, Janzen received the 2001 Ovations award from Tele.com magazine and COMNET for the company’s extraordinary achievements in technology and operations. Janzen earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in metallurgical engineering from The Colorado School of Mines and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He completed the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development and became a Colorado School of Mines Distinguished Achievement Medalist in 1996. Janzen serves on the Board of Trustees for The University of Tulsa, and the Heart of America Council-Boy Scouts of America. He is also past vice chairman and a member of the Board for the Hillcrest Healthcare System and the Morningside Foundation. He also serves on the Governor’s Science & Technology Council for the State of Oklahoma and is a Commissioner and Vice Chairman for the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC). Janzen is co-chairman of the Resources Campaign for The Colorado School of Mines and was recently inducted into the University of Tulsa, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Hall of Fame. He is a past board member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Tulsa’s Gilcrease Museum and the Tulsa Area United Way. Current Anyware board include Paula Marshall-Chapman, Chief Executive Officer of The Bama Companies, Inc., Bob F. McCoy, an attorney with the Tulsa law firm of Conner & Winters, P.C., Michael J. Fletcher, president of StoneHenge Partners, Inc., a Tulsa based information technology consulting firm, David Humphrey, the Chief Operating Officer of Oklahoma Equity Partners, Dr. Dale A. Schoenefeld, the Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer at the University of Tulsa, Randy Foutch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Latigo Petroleum, Inc., a privately owned exploration and production company and James C. McGill, an investor with background in a wide variety of organizations, public and private, for profit and not for profit. McGill also serves as Chairman and CEO of Anyware Mobile Solutions.
